Existing fences
Existing combustible fences and gates in the zone get replaced on LA County's schedule, up to 5 years after adoption. Waiting is allowed. Getting a quote early is smarter.
Rebuilds
Fire rebuilds and new construction meet Zone 0 from day one, fencing included. If you are rebuilding after the 2025 fires, design the fence connection noncombustible now.
Metal (steel, aluminum, wrought iron): the standard answer, and powder-coated steel weathers canyon fog well. Woven-wire on steel posts keeps the rural, see-through look many Topanga properties prefer. Masonry, stone, or gabion sections double as radiant-heat shields between structures.
