3 · Fence & gate connections
Break the wooden fuse into the house: the last 5 feet of fence become metal or masonry. Required on LA County's Phase 2 schedule; smart now.
4 · Decks, gutters, eaves
Clear under-deck storage, screen deck edges, keep gutters free of oak litter. On steep Topanga lots the deck is often the most exposed surface on the property.

Do older canyon cabins have to retrofit to current building code?

Does hardening actually matter if a fire runs the whole canyon?

Can I do the work myself?
